_in Hungary, all of the universities provide opportunities to students to research in scientific subjects _ in each year one conference is arranged by one by one to demonstrate the results of researchers _ this conference is called the Scientific Students’ Association’s Conference _ moreover, it is an pre-evaluation for researches and presenters by the experts of each university to the National Scientific Students’ Association’s Conference organized by different universities of Hungary in every second year always _ at the NSSAC the best student researchers of Hungary are measured to each other by subjects_ _according to my scientific inquisitiveness, I was eager to take a part at least one of these conferences _ fortunately, I had not just one, but three chances meaning of consultants, subject and schedule of semesters to examine more issues scientifically_
_all of my researches were based on not just science and characteristic curiosity but personal experience _ during my first research, I was working at the Department of Architectural Geometry and Informatics as a tutor _ before I wrote with a companion The Fire Protection of Renovating Monuments, I had worked at the renovation of Rudas Bath (Budapest) as an inspector and had had complete insight of the construction works _ thus one of the main part was searched before which was highly valued by my consultant, Lajos Takács, one of the most prominent experts in Europe of fire protection _ finally, The “International” Shanghai was born my own experiences gained from my working months in Shanghai _ this research was carried out both in Hungarian and English, because it was send to my respected bosses and coworkers in China as a gift expressing my appreciation for their help of my unbelievable amazing journey_ |

_insolation is more and more important in architectural meaning _ this thesis includes historical examples from ancient times until today whose designers are known to acknowledge and use the geometry and the nature of sunlight and its „behavior” _ connecting to that, the knowledge what the architects are aware of is introduced_ _afterwards, stereo-graphical geometry is presented which is the world wide used method to examine sun exposure _ furthermore, the common known designer programs are analysed according to their capability of handling sunlight, shadow, exposure, etc. _ they are compared to each other as stated by their database, user interface, results _ moreover, an additional program is introduced specialized to create shadow for a specific time at a specific location – to investigate insolation_ _finally the pragmatic use of insolation is explored because review insolation during the design process generate more sustainable, economical, and simpler renovations, buildings, blocks, districts or even cities_

_the vulnerability of historical monuments is beyond question in terms of damage from fire hazard _ however, protecting our monuments must be solved in a cautious and sympathetic manner _ in this thesis a number of practices and experiences will be presented including some important European fire protection methods that effectively prevented fire damage to significant European buildings of great historical, architectural value _ the effectiveness of both passive and active protection methods will be discussed _ another perspective will be presented in light of modern scientific approaches used by the Chinese in protecting their historical monuments_ _afterwards, the Hungarian practices will be examined including analysis of the kind of devices and technologies that were available at the time of their construction; and the more relevant and promising technologies that are available now which may be considered in retrofitting _ selected case studies from both Hungary and abroad will be presented considering such issues as – the factors that caused the fire in each case; possible methods of preventing it; suggested techniques that could have been used to prevent the accident_ _to conclude, the case of the recent renovations of The Rudas Thermal Baths and Swimming Pool is presented in light of sympathetic and promising fire protection methods being emplaced in a major cultural historical monument of international significance_ |

_the architecture of Shanghai is fascinating because of its variety – the multicultural environment has been creating unique picture _ the foreign culture always had and has a big influence on Shanghai as one of the biggest harbor city in China _ caused by its special history, Shanghai almost always had some foreign jurisdiction which formed their parts of the city as their own – thus, the foreign districts of Shanghai (for example the French Concession) were born_ _several famous architects took part in redesigning the image (sometimes the identity) of metropolis’ parts such as Hudec, Parker & Palmer, and Paulus Snoeren _ although these districts and buildings were designed by non-Chinese people until the World War II., nowadays they are used by them which may cause interesting changes and solutions – these will be searched, examined and presented in this thesis_ |
