| _woow this was an interesting week, full of with social events and a Glenferrie Festival at the end _ moreover, at Swinburne, the Orientation week started, which means that from the next week there will be more students on the whole campus 😀 we have seen so many of them 😀 and I have pinned Hungary on the map one of the desk had to show that there is one student from Hungary_
_the week started on Monday (obviously…), but our first event was on Tuesday _ Startup Victoria organises fortnightly (?) a pitch event, where selected companies can present their ideas, their progress from the past, and ask for additional advice, workforce, money, or anything they want to _ everything was fine, and there were 4 groups, but the last one stood out for everyone: their name is Swoopaero, and they are 3D printing drones which are used to deliver medicine to isolated places _ they are already using their technology in Mozambique, and other places as well and they are planning to increase in Australia also _ I do not know what they were asking for, but they got everything due their cause and effectiveness and … so just wow _ everyone was amazed _ Ben offered his services to them, to help, they were really amazing _ while Ben was talking the Swoopaero, I approached the pitch coach to ask him about his opinion on coming to Swinburne and teach some PhD students to pitch _ he was very enthusiastic, and accidentally very interested in my PhD topic, because he works with the government and Startup Vic to help enhance cities so we had a marvelous conversation _ both of us, Ben and I were delighted and satisfied with the event_ _on Wednesday, I had lunch with other PhD students from our faculty and our Dean, Lisa _ she is amazing, and she wants to have a contact with the PhD students so she organizes these lunches inviting the faculty’s PhD candidates to hear our problems from us _ I had some questions which generated some discussion, but that was good – although I did not get the answer I was hoping for, but at least I get the answer _ moreover, while we were at the lunch, one of my review panel members offered me a tutoring job in her unit, so I will teach!!!! the fear begins 😀 _ _on Friday, I had a really packed day: I had to make my ethics application again from the start because the stupid system did not save my answers… then I went to a Centre education (we are in Centres at the faculty, I am at Centre for Design Innovation, this education was for the Centre for Urban Transitions) lecture, which started late due to a goodbye party of a retiring colleague _ after that, I went to have lunch with Jaime and Manow as our last for a month because Manow goes home to Thailand for a holiday (she is a little worried about not being able to come back because of the corona virus 🙁 ), afterwards I went to our Centre to have a lovely afternoon (organised by me and Chris, a fellow PhD student) with my fellow PhD students and the lead of the Centre _ his name is Blair and he is more of an industry person than an academic according to this own words but he is working on becoming more academic 😀 he is hilarious and he has 15 PhD students _ so this event was also really interesting_ _yesterday Ben went to do some stuff, so I watched two movies (Love, Simon – I can only just recommend this one, it has some real meaning and humor and lightness at the same time; Knives out – I really liked it, but someone should be able to value Agatha Christie to be able to value this one) and cooked and waited him with warm dinner_ _and today we went to the Glenferrie Festival which is I don’t know why on the 1st of March, but it was like a real Hungarian fair _ please, see the pictures form it (and the week) through this link_ |
_wooow, ez egy igen érdekes hét volt, tele közösségi eseménnyel és Glenferrie búcsúval a végén _ sőt, még az Orientációs hét is most volt a Swinburne-ön, ami azt jelenti, hogy a következő héttől több diák lesz a campuson 😀 már most rengeteget láttunk belőlük 😀 és bejelöltem MAgyarországot az egyik standnál egy térképen, hogy jól tudják, hogy Magyarországról is van ott diák_
_a hét hétfővel kezdődött (hát nyilván), de az első esemény keddre esett _ a Startup Victoria kéthetente (?) rendez egy pitch estet, ahol választott cégek tudják prezentálni az ötleteiket, a korábbi haladásukat, és kérhetnek további, segítséget, javaslatot, pénzt, munkaerőt, vagy bármit _ szuper volt minden, 4 csapat adott elő, de az utolsó volt az, amelyiken mindenki fennakadt: Swoopaero a nevük és 3D nyomtatással csinálnak drónokat, amikkel aztán gyógyszert szállítanak nehezen megközelíthető helyekre _ már használják a technológiájukat Afrikában, Mozambique-ben és máshol is, és most szeretnének Ausztrália felé is nyitni _ nem tudom, hogy mi mindent kértek (arra már nem jutott idő, hogy ezt elmondják), de mindent is megkaptak a cél, az eszköz, a hatékonyság meg minden miatt _ mindenki el volt ájulva _ Bence felajánlotta a segítségét nekik, annyira szuperek voltak _ amíg Bence velük beszélt, addig én a pitch trénert vettem célba, hogy megkérdezzem, hogy mit gondolna arról, hogy a Swinburne-re jönni és tanítani néhány PhD diákot pitchelni _ nagyon lelkes volt az ötlet miatt, és véletlenül még az én témám is érdekelte, mert dolgozik a kormánynak és a Startup Victoriával épp azon igyekeznek, hogy segítség a városokat jobbá tenni _ mind a ketten Bencével megleehtősen elégedetten hagytuk ott az eseményt_ _szerdán újra volt ebédünk néhány PhD diákkal a dékánnál, Lisánál _ elképesztő egy nő, és szeretne kapcsolatban maradni a PhD diákokkal, ezért rendez ilyen ebédeket meghívva a PhD diákokat hogy halljon a mi problémáinkról _ volt némi kérdésem, ami érdekes beszélgetést indított, ami jó volt – s bár nem az általam áhított választ kaptam, legalább kaptam választ a kérdésemre _ sőt, miközben ebédeltünk, az egyik bíráló bizottsági tagom írt, hogy szeretné ,hogy tanítsak vele a félévben, úgyhogy fogok tanítani!!! kezdjen mindenki reszketni 😀 _ _pénteken nagyon zsúfolt volt a napom: újra kellett csináljam az etikai bizottsági kérvényemet, mert a dinka rendszer nem jegyezte meg a válaszaimat… aztán elrobogtam egy Centre előadásra (Centrekbe vagyunk beosztva a karon belül, én a Centre for Design Innovation-höz tartozom, az előadás meg a Centre for Urban Transitionben volt), ami kissé megkésve kezdődött egy nyugdíjba vonuló kolléga leköszönése miatt _ azután, lementem ebédelni Manowval meg Jaime-vel utoljára most egy hónapig, mert Manow megy haza egy hónapra (kissé aggódik, hogy nem fog tudni visszajönni a corona vírus miatt 🙁 ), aztán viszont mentem a saját Centre-m délutánjára (Chris és általam szervezve) a PhDsokkal meg a Centre vezetőjével _ az ő neve Blair és inkább egy ipari fickó, mint akadémiai a saját bevallása szerint, de most fog dolgozni azon, hogy ez változzon 😀 haláli jó arc és 15 PhD diákja van _ ez is nagyon érdekes esemény volt_ _tegnap Bencének dolga volt, így megnéztem 2 filmet is (Love, Simon – csak ajánlani tudom, igazi tartalma van, de könnyed és humoros, és van mondanivalója; Knives out – nekem ez nagyon tetszett, de szeretni kell ehhez az Agatha Christie könyveket) és aztán meleg vacsorával vártem Bencét haza_ _ma pedig a hét lezárásaképp elmentünk a Glenferrie búcsúba, amit nem tudom, hogy miért március 1-én tartanak, de nagyon hasonlított egy igazi magyar búcsúhoz _ a képeket erről (meg az egész hétről) ezen a linken keresztül lehet elérni_ |
